No Escaping FHIR: New ONC Regulations Mandate FHIR for EHRs
New ONC Rules Create Opportunities for Growth
A new wave of FHIR mandates is fast approaching, intended to eliminate a plethora of interoperability issues stifling the full utilization of Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
New requirements from the ONC aim to facilitate patient access and streamline the exchange of clinical and related data between disparate healthcare stakeholders through real-time data exchanges. Providers must implement HL7® FHIR® APIs by December 31, 2022, allowing for growth and customer retention. This calls for a more efficient administrative process among Providers, patients, as well as health plans and IT vendors.
